About the Workshop

This two-part workshop takes place from 9:30-12:30pm on Saturday, Nov. 30th and Sunday, Dec. 1st.

Join us at the Centre for Social Innovation - Annex location for what is sure to be an amazing storytelling workshop with our host Lara Margaret Marjerrison. Lara is an artist, author, storyteller, speaker, and spoken-word poet. She will cover the foundations of storytelling and how you can begin to feel your way into your own voice through an experimental, experiential approach that will help you get the words down on the page and out there. Lara will help you fine tune your skills and become a captivating oral storyteller. No experience required. Writing materials are included with your ticket.

About our Host:

Lara believes words are the most powerful weapons on Earth and stories, particularly when shared in the context of community, can save lives. Indeed, words and stories helped her transform her own trauma and tragedy into triumph. Lara captivates audiences with a fearlessness and sensitivity that is spellbinding. She possesses a fierce intellect, a razor-sharp wit, and an innate ability to beam light and laughter into even the darkest corners of life. Lara has appeared on Life Stories on the W Network, The Mom Show, and PROUD FM. She has graced the stages of High Stakes Storytelling, True Stories (Told Live) Toronto, Raw Storytelling, Stories of Ours, This is Trophy, and Grown Ups Read Things They Wrote As Kids. She is a also a semi-regular participant of Toronto Poetry Slam and recently completed a six-city solo tour performing pieces from her poetry collection, grief & loss & love & sex , which is scheduled for re-release later this year for North American distribution.
