About the Workshop
Why do we tell stories? Creating stories is our brain’s way of making sense of our world. A story turns the grand and complex into digestible morsels of thought and ideas; transforming the enormity of our lives and making it palatable, understandable, objective, and entertaining. Stories help us answer the many questions we have about our existence. The central question being: Who Am I? It is in sharing these stories, where we make epiphanies, and connections, and realize both the similarities and differences in our understanding of who we are and why we are here and what can we do with the time that we are given. Our Stories heal our doubts, and unveil the truth and beauty of our existence; even when the tales seem ugly or dark or sad. If the Storyteller’s quest for truth and beauty adheres, the meaning and depth of understanding will be relatable and sublime.
Shomee will guide you over three sessions, to help you construct and formulate your stories, and will help you build up your confidence and courage to share that story out loud. Concluding with a final session where we will share our stories for an invited audience.
No experience required. Writing materials are included with your ticket.
*Attendees can attend all 3 sessions or just 1! Ticket options available. The first two sessions will be focused on developing your story and oral storytelling approach. The last session (February 14th) will end with food and drinks while people share their stories in front of the group.
