About the Workshop
In this 1 hour workshop you will be guided through a self-reflective exercise based on the expressive art of writing for personal growth. You will learn why writing is a healing tool and how you can use it to combat or prevent stress. No prior experience in poetry writing is needed. With “Poetry Unlocked” you will see firsthand that anyone can write a poem! Poetry, with its expressive, concise and image-based structure, is one of the most healing forms of writing therapy.
You do not need to share your work unless you want to, and your writing will never be judged. This class is not about writing well, but about using writing for well-being.
Please note: expressive arts can unlock deep emotion; this class is not meant to replace professional therapy.
What you need:
Pen and Paper.
About our Host:
This workshop is facilitated by Carolyn Grisold, M.A., whose Creativity Unlocked reflexive writing workshops have been running since 2014. Carolyn’s graduate studies focused on using reflexive writing as a way to help prevent workplace burnout, but there are many other benefits to this expressive art – such as rejuvenating our inner artist, developing a sanctuary through regular creative practice or simply finding more joy in daily life. Carolyn is a graduate of The Humber School for Writers where she completed a poetry collection with mentor Olive Senior.
Accessibility Level: Easy. This workshop can be accessed online through our Boomerang at Home online feature. This is a video conference experience that can be accessed via Mobile, iPad, and Computer devices. Your device must have a microphone and/or camera to participate.
