About the Workshop

Boomerang is excited to continue the Knitting Techniques Series in partnership with Spin Me a Yarn. Join us to learn the knitting techniques you have always wanted to try or improve on. On September 18th, we will be showing you the "illusion" knitting technique.

Do you know where knitting comes from? It’s amazing to think of a long piece of yarn becoming something you can wear or use in your home, isn’t it? Knitting has a long cultural legacy, stemming from the Middle East and carrying through to Europe, where fishermen depended on knitted sweaters to survive harsh conditions at sea in the 17th and 18th century. We are so glad knitting made it to our continent, where it’s been identified as a stress-reliever helpful for treating depression and anxiety. Some researchers have found it to have similar effects on the brain  to meditation! All of those positive health outcomes, and you get to enjoy the fruits of your effort in the form of lovely scarves, shawls, sweaters, tea cozies, and more. Why not take this opportunity to improve your knitting skills in an intimate and comfortable setting, with our very skilled Boomerang hosts and partners at Spin Me A Yarn? Our classes at Spin Me A Yarn take place in a calming environment that feels just like the family living room. We swap stories about life along with tips and tricks on how to get better at the craft we love. Bring a friend or make a new one -  this informal and supportive workshop is all about building community while growing your expertise at something you love to do.

About our Host:
