About the Workshop
This informative and interactive workshop will help those of you who are caring for your older relatives to learn about what services and professionals you can tap into to help your family members. It is also geared to those of you who are older yourselves, and would just like to be informed about the variety of community based services that you may need at some point as you age. Our healthcare system is sadly, complex and convoluted, resulting in caregivers feeling frustrated, confused and anxious. "Knowledge is power" and the more informed you are, the less stressed you will feel. As well, if you are less stressed then you will be better able to enjoy relationships with your older relatives. The difference between a Will and a Power of Attorney will also be reviewed.
By the end of this Workshop, you will leave feeling calm, empowered and knowledgable. There will be ample opportunity for participants to both ask questions as well as to share your ideas and lived experiences amongst each other.
About our Host:
Zoe Levitt is a Social Worker who has devoted her whole career to working with older people and their families for the last 27 years. She has worked both in hospitals and in people's homes so she is familiar with the often harsh, systemic challenges and stressors that families experience in trying to care for their older relatives. She is passionate around trying to help families work 'around the system', when possible, so that older people can improve the quality of their lives.
