About the Workshop

Crocheting is a lot like knitting, right? Well, kind of. It only uses one hook, and the process involves pulling yarn through a loop, and then repeating. Whereas the history of knitting is very long, stemming from centuries back, crocheting is a newer activity. There are indicators that it stems from the mid-nineteenth century, when detailed instructions appeared in magazines to teach readers how to crochet, based on the presumption that they had some basic skills in other needlecrafts. Some people say it’s easier to learn than knitting, and you might agree after attending this workshop led by our talented and friendly Boomerang host.

Join us on September 28th for a two-hour beginner crochet workshop hosted by Didem D. In the first hour of this workshop we will give participants information on hooks & materials and then teach basic stitching techniques. Knowledge of basic stitching techniques and practice will give you the ability to create your own design and uniformity in your work. The rest of the session, we will be working on a coaster or a head band depending on each participant’s preference.

Each participant will receive a kit which will include a yarn and a suited hook & needle.
