About the Workshop

Attendees will learn solid basics of merengue -  perfect for party music from the 60s to the 80s (as well as from today!)  Instruction will cover movement and rhythm, dance steps, techniques, and dancer etiquette for both leaders and followers. Prime directive? Have fun! Leather or suede soled shoes recommended. Partners not required.

We are in the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre's Dance Studio for this class. 

About our Host:


Kristine Maitland started dancing in 1974 (she was 4), doing ballet and folk dance. In the mid 1990s, she was introduced to social dancing at Dancing on King, where she assisted as a studio dance partner. She has since taught dance workshops at schools, festivals and conferences. Kristine is a member of the Toronto Swing Dance Society and of Workman Arts.

Accessibility Level: Moderate. Venue can be accessed from street level. The Dance Studio is on the main level. Attendees should come prepared for light physical activity and movement.
