About the Workshop

The holidays provide a lovely opportunity to connect with the people you care about. So whether you are planning a large corporate event or a small at-home gathering, it is important to ensure no one is left out. One way to do that is by offering your guests high-quality non-alcoholic drink options! Haritha Gnanaratna of Temperance Cocktails is here to help, calling on contemporary and ancient knowledge and ingredients for easily prepared beverages that taste many times more complex.

This workshop is for all skill levels; from those who have never mixed anything more complicated than cranberry juice and soda, to the seasoned home entertainer - everyone will learn something new and come away with useful knowledge for innovating their own recipes.

Together we will learn about the basic structure of a good cocktail, how each of those elements can be made, and how they can be combined in a hands-on exercise to produce something delightful to both the eye and the palate!

The course fee includes:

- an 8oz bottle of a cocktail concentrate for you to enjoy at home

- recipe cards for what we've worked on in this workshop

About our Host:

After ten years of working in the hospitality industry, Haritha Gnanaratna decided to ditch what many would consider a key ingredient in his work: alcohol. The inspiration for this project happened after he met his now-partner, writer (and non-drinker) Audra Williams.

Since launching in the fall of 2018, Temperance Cocktails has done signature events for the Centre for Social Innovation, the Workman Arts’ Rendezvous With Madness festival, and the Toronto Queer Film Fest

Accessibility: Easy. The store can be entered from street level. The workshop is in the main area of the store. There is a washroom on the same level.
